The Wayne County Children’s Advocacy Center, Inc. (WCCAC) is a child-oriented facility, which serves as a centralized location for interviewing and examining children who are victims of sexual abuse.  The mission of the CAC is to protect children by providing on-site agency collaboration of services and the use of the multi-disciplinary team approach in prevention, investigation, assessment, referral for prosecution, and treatment of child sexual abuse.  The children are interviewed by specially trained forensic interviewers and examined by specially trained medical professionals in a child-friendly environment.  The cases are managed by a multidisciplinary task force comprised of county prosecutors, law enforcement officers, mental health workers, victim advocates, medical professionals and clinical staff.  Members of the task force team help the child and family cope with the abuse and begin the recovery process.

The WCCAC is a full accredited member of the National Children’ s Alliance (NCA).  NCA is the national membership organization of children’s advocacy centers nationwide.  The WCCAC obtained this accreditation in 2006, after completing a rigorous application process and site review.  The WCCAC is also a member of the Ohio Network of Children’s Advocacy Centers (ONCAC) on a state wide level.  The WCCAC is one of fourteen fully accredited CAC’s in the state of Ohio.
