Lions Activities:
The concept of offering Lions an opportunity to participate in Lions activities without requiring a routine, fixed meeting schedule has been a key goal of several MD13 members for quite a while now. Lions Clubs International has made the organizing and operation of Cyber Lions Clubs much easier by creating a club category to match this way of thinking. This type of Lions Club is known as a Cyber Lion Club.

Cyber Lions Club - A Great Opportunity:
Lions Clubs International has provided a golden opportunity to use information technology to provide efficient, effective, time and place independent communication with existing Lions and potential Lions. In the same manner as industry has used in creating a "just in time" manufacturing process, Lions Clubs International now has the opportunity to match busy people with "direct service and fundraising activities" as well as efficient, effective communication in a "time and place independent manner" that is able to allow Lions the opportunity of "keeping up with Lions news" at a time convenient to the individual Lion.
The Ohio Lions Council of Governors approved a resolution creating a taskforce to evaluate the feasibility of creating "Cyber Lions Club" as an option for MD13 on May 15, 2009. The resolution adopted may be read by clicking here
Update: Public Relations and Marketing Committee is now the host committee for making recommendations for instituting/marketing the concept of Cyber Lions in MD13-Posted August 10, 2010.

Guiding Principles:
To be successful, any expansion of Lions service opportunities must not compromise the perceived quality of the Lions membership experience. Cyber Lions, like traditional Lions, must perceive a value proposition and, like Lions everywhere, feel that they are a part of a greater movement that works on a global as well as a local basis. Cyber Lions membership must be presented as a supplemental opportunity for individuals to be involved with their communities as Lions. Cyber Lions membership should not be seen as a replacement for traditional Lions Club membership but as a new mechanism for individuals to participate in a local Lions Club (if one exists) or belong to a "Cyber Club."
We need to move from a structural (i.e. number of Lions Members) to a new focus on outcomes. We need to continue to recognize "perfect attendance", service projects and other motivating structures that have worked well over the years. However, we need to de‐emphasize the Lions meeting as the only way to be a good Lion. Existing Lions clubs need to develop (if they so choose) mechanisms to encourage and recognize contributions of Cyber Lions and maintain active, ongoing communication with Cyber Lions in a manner preferred by Cyber Lions. For example, some Cyber Lions might prefer to have phone calls while others are much happier to receive email or website based updates. We may need to do market analysis using focus groups on an ongoing basis to make sure Cyber Lions needs and desires are being met.
