The Wayne County Health Department, in conjunction with the Wayne County Emergency Management Agency, has established the Wayne County Medical Reserve Corps (MRC). The Medical Reserve Corps (MRC) is a community-based network of volunteers that assists public health efforts in times of special need or disaster. The Health Department recognizes the importance of having identified, screened, credentialed, and trained medical professionals for the quick and efficient response to medical and/or public health emergencies. The Health Department is currently seeking volunteers who are licensed medical professionals such as physicians, physician’s assistants, nurse practitioners, registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, state tested nursing assistants, pharmacists, dentists, and veterinarians to staff emergency clinic sites throughout Wayne County. These volunteers may be asked to perform such duties as administering vaccine or medication, screening and monitoring patients, and supporting the overall operation of the Health Department during an emergency. The Health Department plans to offer orientation and training opportunities to ensure volunteers are familiar with emergency operation policies and procedures.
