  • The goal of the Perinatal Hepatitis B Prevention Program (PHBPP) is to reduce the spread of the infection from the mother to her baby at birth.
  • Hepatitis B is a Class B reportable disease. When a notification is made and it is determined, a woman with hepatitis B is pregnant, case management is started with the Infectious Disease Nurses.
  • The purpose of case management is to ensure providers are aware of the mother’s status and that the baby then receives the correct protection against Hepatitis B.
